WE CELEBRATE 170 YEARS OF MACHINE AND PUMP CONSTRUCTION IN OSCHERSLEBEN
We would like to take this as an opportunity to immerse you in the company history of oddesse Pumpen- und Motorenfabrik GmbH.
The inventor of the pump is not known. But some well-known names stand as milestones in the more than 2000-year development towards today’s variety of pumps: Archimedes, Ctesibius or Otto von Guericke, for example.
For more than 120 years, the name Oddesse has also stood for pioneering engineering achievements in the field of machine and pump construction. Since then, customer-oriented innovations and assured quality have guaranteed sophisticated solutions for water supply and disposal, with which the long-established company has been successful in international competition.
Conscious of a 170-year tradition at the Oschersleben site, oddesse Pumpen- und Motorenfabrik GmbH, as a family-run medium-sized company, continues to focus on the technical development of its pumps and motors in line with the challenges of its time, as well as the worldwide distribution of its innovative, resource-saving products.
THE MOST IMPORTANT MILESTONES
1854
Master coppersmith Forstreuter from Oschersleben recognised the signs of the times in 1854: The sugar industry centred in the fertile Magdeburger Börde area experiences an enormous boom.
1897
The entrepreneur’s sons specialize in pump construction and this mechanical engineering company merges with Oddesse-Dampfpumpen-Gesellschaft Hamburg.
1929
The “Maschinenfabrik Oddesse GmbH Oschersleben” is founded in 1907. During this time, 200 employees are already working day and night shifts.
1939
Technical innovations, such as the
Development and production of
submersible pumps and submersible
motors, make the good reputation of the company on the world market.
1946
Nevertheless, things continue in 1946.
The VEB Pumpenfabrik Oschersleben
convinces with quality and new
product developments customers in
many countries.
1960
New products are developed, such as the propeller pump series, heating circulation pumps and the Söffel series of waste water pumps.
1975
With the commissioning of the new building in Anderslebener Straße in 1975, VEB Pumpenfabrik Oschersleben is one of the most important pump construction sites of the “Kombinat Pumpen und Verdichter” in the GDR.
1994/98
With the commissioning of a new state-of-the-art production facility and the focus on single and multi-stage submersible pumps and submersible motors, the company is entering a new era.
In the course of time
