Master coppersmith Forstreuter from Oschersleben recognised the signs of the times in 1854: The sugar industry centred in the fertile Magdeburger B\u00f6rde area experiences an enormous boom. As a result of the great demand for energy, lignite mining also develops in the region. The demand for machines, steam boilers and pumps is on the rise. The master blacksmith founds Forstreutersche Maschinenfabrik in Oschersleben.
